Deepening ties between Colorado and Japan Innovation Network

08 October, 2015

The Japan Innovation Network (JIN) and the Colorado Innovation Network (COIN) have signed a collaboration agreement on Thursday, 8 October 2015, to deepen cooperation on a wide array of innovation issues.

The signing ceremony was hosted by JIN in the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo and the agreement formalized by Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper and JIN President Noboru Konno. The partnership went into effect on the same day.

Building also on existing economic ties, the agreement will jumpstart the creation of networks and collaborative platforms spanning startups, large and mid-sized corporations, universities, as well as innovation-related agencies and policy networks on both sides of the Pacific.

Both sides have stressed the need for strengthened international cooperation in order to fully seize on the many complementarities in research and development, startup ecosystems and academic work being done in Japan and Colorado. Both sides will actively seek to foster exchange of people and ideas between the two partners.

In their speeches, the signatories stressed how idea creation and collaborative innovation will become increasingly internationalized in the future, enabling people and businesses to access the innovation building blocks they need independent of physical location. The JIN-COIN partnership will provide a strong framework in which this kind of international innovation can happen across the Pacific.
