About SHIP

The SDGs Holistic Innovation Platform, “SHIP” is a global open innovation platform that sees innovation opportunities in tackling the SDGs and aims to solve global issues with know-how and technologies of the private sector.
SHIP is managed by Japan Innovation Network (JIN) by partnering with diverse stakeholders both in Japan and overseas and forming “SHIP Ecosystem.” Through innovation activities by utilizing know-how and technologies of Japanese private corporations and partners, SHIP is developing business models that will accelerate the achievement of the SDGs.
SHIP Program
Depending on the needs of each company, SHIP offers a variety of programs.



SDGs Executive Program
| Purpose | To capture the SDGs as innovation opportunities and incorporate them into corporate strategy and vision. |
| Overview | Lectures and workshops for corporate executives to understand innovation management and incorporate the SDGs into corporate strategy and vision. |

SDGs Business Program (Introductory Session)
| Purpose | To get the picture of how the SDGs are related to companies’ core business and business opportunities. |
| Overview | 1.5-2 hours lecture and workshop to understand why SDGs is the key for business and to get ready to take actions for the achievement of the SDGs. |

SDGs Business Program (Thematic Session)
| Purpose | To discover business opportunities related to specific SDG themes. |
| Overview | 4-6 hours workshop designed for in-depth exploration of a specific SDG, such as health-related issues and needs in Asia, energy issues and needs in Africa. The workshop includes hypothesis creation and value propositions for potential customers. External SHIP partners, such as start-up companies and experts, will be invited to provide inputs and advice. |

SDGs Innovation Program
| Purpose | To design business model & plans addressing a specific SDG that is relevant to corporate strategy. |
| Overview | Serial meeting sessions, internal discussions and feedback sessions to design business models, test hypothesis, re-design the model, then design business plans for the period of 1.5-3 months. |
